  • Book2 Chapter 1: The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill – Patched

    Excerpt from page 7:

Miranda noticed that at the base of her neck, the woman also had the very same, coin sized, ampule. She pointed just above her breast bone, to her own gold colored disk as she asked, “Unless someone is going to refill this, you’ll never be free.”

The woman looked down and touched her hand to it. She became distressed as she pushed on it and realized it would not move. “Well maybe…”

“Maybe nothing, I wouldn’t believe a damn thing that bitch says.” Miranda stood up and walked over to her. “They let another girl out, just ahead of you.”

“There’s three of us out here? What’s going on?”

Dr. K. warns Lou about Miranda.

“Well,..,”he squirmed in his seat before going on, “They
sometimes use their own, women that is, in such matters, it depends.
These people think nothing of handing their young daughters around.
Their lives are little more than a modern day version of a concubine,
as opposed to the young men in these circles. They are groomed for
leadership roles in business or politics, but the woman… they get
married off to another influential family, eventually. The other young
woman, the majority at that party I suspect, have an entirely different
    future in store.”

    Lou’s eyes narrowed, “Like what?”

Dr. K looked down as he answered, “Let me put it this way, these
girls have a ‘use by date’.”

    “That’s bullshit…”

“Think about it—the things they hear, the players they’re with—
over time, it makes them carriers of secrets of these people. Yet they
are not indoctrinated and sworn to protect such things. They are
outsiders, however loyal they may be, however long they have
served, they will always be viewed as ‘useful idiots’ by their
benefactors. If this girl is one of these ‘disposables’, then her only
hope is to latch on to someone very influential, in the group. Someone
who can stave off her being snuffed out at thirty. There is an
international market for these women, as they reach that age. If
they’re lucky, it comes quick. Others get ‘patched’ and serve out there
remaining years in some slum brothel.”

“I never heard of that, ‘patched’ you say?”

Dr. K looked up at Lou and pointed his finger to a spot, just
above his breast bone. “They implant a see through disk right about
here, no more than the size of a quarter. It contains a colored liquid
substance. It’s a synthetic hormone that they get them addicted to, in a
matter of a few days. But unlike a drug addiction you don’t get any
behavior modification, no ‘high’ from it. Its purpose is to keep the
‘patched’ person from running. See if that little disk is not refilled, the
person dies from internal organ failure in less than eight hours. Even
if they were rushed to a hospital, they wouldn’t survive. The
attending physicians might figure out what had been done, but no lab
could come up with the right mixture in time.”
